There are many ways friends can help e.g. from helping to build a school to providing educational materials for the teacher's use.

From doing backyard fundraising for school text books to donating so the hungriest of the hungry to be fed.

Become a friend of Patmos Junior School and provide for improvements for better education and brighter future.

Many of the families are completely unable to raise money for school fees which is equivalent to $6 dollars a month thus we are typically offering them free education.

Our Needs

1. Send gently used clothing for any child. Many of our children are wearing the only clothing they own on their backs. Clean out your children's closets and provide a treasure for a child I need. Shoes, socks, sweaters, jackets, book bags, dresses and paints are always greatly needed.
2. Sponsor a student, a class or whole school uniform expenses; $30 dollars will buy a child a full uniform good for a full year (sweater, dress or shorts, socks and shoes).
3. Make a donation to buy textbooks or assist with new or used books. Patmos junior follows the curriculum guidelines from the ministry of education. Any financial contribution will boost this project.
4. Send a friendship package or school supplies kit to any child. If you wish to send a box to a young child, you may fill it with the following items: box of crayons, coloring book, and pair of Childs scissors, pencil case, several erasers, handheld pencil sharpener, small try or doll, picture book. If you wish to send a box to an older child, you may fill it with the following items: box of colored pencils, pair of scissors, pencils case, box of pencils, note book, several pens, several erasers, handheld pencil sharpener, ruler, box of highlighters. Book relevant to age.
5. Send a parcel of hope to any child with clothing and hygiene items. Ideas include a tooth brush, tooth paste, bar of soap and towel, underwear and socks. A sweater and a small umbrella.
6. Send a teacher care package with class room materials, flash cards, wall charts, maps, chalk pieces, calendars, calculator, note books, diary, clock. The highest paid teacher gets a monthly salary between 30 to 40 dollars- you may sponsor a teacher's salary and this will be a beneficial to Patmos Junior because it will bring more efficiency in their work.
7. Food is always in great demand. One $ 1 dollar can pay for a child's full day meal $25 dollar would feed a child for a whole month.
8. Building materials are readily available but it has been had to accumulate enough money to build a strong founded classes. If you would move children from the temporal iron sheets structures to more attractive classes you will have touched the whole community. Help us build improved classrooms for better living environments. Any financial donation towards the building project, electricity, school furniture etc will be highly appreciated.
9. Support the director "Richard" he works sacrificially to ensure that every child is happy. He treats them as his own, Richard has a wife and two children (a boy and a girl) aged 7 and 11 years. His wife is the one employed and she has occasionally put her income to meet the needs of the school.
10. Help us buy land. Our school is out growing and the space we are using is small with several structures closely build together. This can not allow expansion of the school. Land is available if funds can be available. Plots in Mathare go up to 1.3m however we can opt for other areas where plots are cheaper to as low as Kshs. 300,000. For expansion the school need 3 -4 plots
11. Support us in bringing the future goal for an orphanage into reality. We worry about our students orphans and where they go after school. Help us build a home for them.
12. Assist us financially to build a well equipped school kitchen to meet student's food services and needs. Food supplies, space, pots, plates, cups, serving dishes etc are a real necessity.
13. Visit our school. We value visitors. They are always a blessing to us.
